Remember last summer’s drought? Were
you prepared? Have you heard about new forms of conservation at work
in local homes and businesses?
At 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, join Tippecanoe Soil and Water Conservation District specialist Rick Parsons in Ivy Hall, Lilly Room
1120 on the Ivy Tech Community College campus. Learn how and why it
is important to conserve water.
Explore the benefits of rain barrels, rain gardens, and bioswale
landscaping. Discover how to get rid of household waste in ways that
don’t pollute our waterways. Learn about rural practices such as
two-stage ditches, also bioreactor designs and systems.
Find out how you can make a difference, help your community, and
participate in Tippecanoe County volunteer programs. No registration
is required for this program hosted by the Tippecanoe County/Ivy
Tech Library.
“Groundbreaking Reads” is the theme of the 2013 Adult Summer Reading

Thanksgiving Stories - 5
I love found magazines...those I pick up off free carts in libraries and the November 2010 issue of Real Simple had a series of great Thanksgiving stories. Here's the fifth one, The Music, by Allegra Goodman.
